Went here and we were seated right away. Food was good, although the restaurant was kinda not well lit. Kinda romantic setting with the lighting. I went there with family so kinda awkward with the romantic ambience. But other than that the food was high quality and we will be back! I'm eating  no fish sushi these days and even with that it was so good! Mostly ordered crab roll, California roll, avocado  roll, lobster roll and cucumber  avocado roll and a miso soup! The green tea was good too! Great quick bite to eat, I recommend coming here for lunch and at night time on a romantic date, bc of the lighting!

I'm always looking for new sushi spots, and Kasai has been on my radar for some time now.  The Yelp reviews seemed favorable, so my SO and I ventured here on a weekend date night.  When we walked in to a completely empty restaurant at 7:00 PM on a Friday, neither of us had to really say anything to the other - our eyes locked with a puzzled "should we stay or should we go?"

Before we could telepathically discuss things further, we were seated at a table and provided with menus.  My only gripe at this point would be that the tablecloths could've use a refresher between guests, ours had a few food stains/marks on it that looked to be from a prior meal - a bit unappetizing.

Finally verbalizing our thoughts, we agreed to try one or two rolls and see how they were before deciding if we would order more or mosey around Carnegie to find more to graze on.  We ordered the Chili Thai and Carnegie rolls - both were tasty, fresh, and rather different from any other roll I've tried in my sushi escapades.  The Chili Thai roll was definitely not shy on spice, but it was fresh and I was a fan of the red snapper on top.  The Carnegie roll didn't appear to have any rice inside, but the cuts of fish were generous and it was lightly fried.  This roll struggled to stay together when picked up, perhaps it wasn't rolled tightly or breaded enough, so a few pieces required a fork to pick up; however, the flavors were good and I liked how much fish was packed inside.

Our total for the two rolls was about $27, which is on par with just about any other sushi place I've frequented.  We were still the only customers when we left, save for two or three people that came in to pick up takeout orders during our meal.  I'm not sure if it was just a quiet night in Carnegie or if we hit that sweet spot between the post-work and dinner crowds.  Though our initial reaction was wary due to it being so empty on a Friday, I was pleased with what we ordered and thought that it was fresh and the service was quick.  Kasai may not be my first choice when it comes to sushi south of the city, but it's a decent option for anyone in the neighborhood looking for a sushi fix.

We were heading to the Indian restaurant around the corner when we remembered it is not open on Mondays. I suggested we try Kasai. We pass it going for Indian and I thought this might be a new joint to check out when in Carnegie. We each (three of us) had lunch specials. Orange chicken, General Tso's and I had spicy shrimp. Of the three mine appeared to the be best. It was standard American Chinese. I asked for it to be spicy, and it was not. Each of us asked for spicy and nothing was... The General Tso's was all breading which really upset my friend. The Orange Chicken was meh too. I suppose if this is close to your house or work than it can satisfy a craving for Chinese. Otherwise, I have no plans to return. It appears that their sushi is liked by a number of folks. We couldn't order because they were not serving sushi on our visit:(

Kasai wasn't the best sushi I've ever had, but it was still really really good and the service was great. The waitress was welcoming and I loved how attentive she was. I loved how the menu had such a variety of unique sushi. The food was delicious and the sushi was pretty fresh. The portions were also large and the price was very reasonable. The hot tea was really good and the teapot it came in was beautiful. I loved how the sushi chef personally walked over to our table and gave us a little dessert box of Pocky at the end of the night. Overall great food and great experience!
